Artist Group Websites and Related Costs

Our methods and development may be a bit different then you are used to with other Website Development companies, but over the last 6 years of working directly with artists to help them promote their art in a professional manner, we have a solution to the problems artists face when developing a website!
We have been promoting artists and building their websites since 1999. We have learned what works, and what doesn't work. We have learned that artists have LOTS of updating and maintaining to do on their websites, whether it be updating images, or updating text, they want it done, and they want it done now! The trouble it, it's usually expensive for them to pay for updates as the going rate for programmers can be anywhere from $40.00 and hour to $85.00 per hour! Generally, the work is slotted on a first come first serve basis, which means the artists might have to wait up to 14 days to have their updates done! So the result is usually… the artist stops updating their site as much as they would like to, and looses interest in the whole process very quickly…it's just too expensive and time consuming…and can get very frustrating waiting on someone else to do the work.
This "New Concept" will take this added stress and additional hidden costs away…
We keep it simple, and we do it All-inclusive!
For a set up fee that is determined based on your groups unique needs, we will Design and Construct your Artist Group Website.
This set up fee will include the following; there are no hidden costs to wonder about!
- We search and register your domain name based on names and ideas you give us. Upon your groups approval of available Domain Names we supply you with in return, we will then register the domain for you…and we pay for the registration!! We will renew your domain for the second year, and pay that renewal fee for you as well.
- We host your Domain Name, and will pay for it for a two-year term.
- Our Hosting Package includes professional logs, which give you Statistical and Demographical information necessary to do your track your visitors and to do your Internet Marketing, which is also what we specialize in should you choose to have Marketing done. I will instruct you how to use your logs, what information is important to you so that you can monitor your traffic, where it comes from, i.e. What search engines you were found under, what pages viewers came in on and left on etc.
- We design and construct your website professionally, it will represent your group and your groups artwork to the highest of standards giving credibility to your artists.
- Website Design - we will create a splash page (welcome page) for your website. This theme will be carried throughout your website. You will have input into the finished product, at which point you will sign off on the design and navigation and we will begin construction.
- Your own Online Office to enable users to edit their own mini websites that are within your Group Site. Users will be able to maintain their own images and text updates. Therefore, no costly updating fees by a Webmaster will be necessary!
- Unlimited number of email accounts.
- We include all the bells and whistles you might be looking for at no extra charge such as:
- Guestbook
- Mailing List Manager (so you can do mass mail outs showing new art, new artists, upcoming shows and events, what ever you like!)
- Refer a Friend capabilities.
- We won't just give your artists a one page deal where people can see their bio, photo and thumbnails of their work, we will give your artists a choice of 'mini websites' within your group site! They will be able to maintain their own site, which will save them money, frustration and time! Our mini websites will enable them to show all of their artwork, not just some of it, they will be able to edit text and update their show schedules…it will allow them to market themselves fully…this will in turn attract new members to your group!
- We are committed to keeping the cost down for artists. That has been our goal since 1999.
This "New Concept" - How are we different from other Website Developers?
The Process
Think of it this way...you go get a new cell phone.
We charge you similar to what the phone company would....
When you get a cell phone...you pay the start up cost and you pay monthly for a minimum of 2 to 3 years on a contract.
Once that contract is over, you are welcome to either renew your contract with them or release it completely.
With the new concept...it would be the same principle. You commit to a minimum 2 year term with us, and pay monthly for the service we provide…that way, you are not having to put up a lot of money upfront, it is spread over time, and by monthly payments.
If after the 2 years, you would like to stop the service, we just take down your website...so in fact, you are really 'leasing' your website, and SAVING money! If you would like to renew your contract, we will do that with you prior to you two year period ending.
Here is a sample breakdown that you can compare to a more traditional type of proposal where they request payment for services upfront and then also charge you for all maintenance and updates they do. (Which is how OUR proposals used to look..)
Example:
Your group site design and construction would cost you anywhere from $3500.00 for a basic website to $6000.00 dollars or more. …give or take depending on the quality, size and extra options you choose to use.
That is a lot of money to come up with for anyone, or any company for that matter.
So we want to make it less scary for people! You shouldn't have to mortgage your house to get a website!
Fees are as follows for your Group Site:
Your set up fee, as mentioned above for Design and Construction of your website will be determined at the beginning. That is a one-time fee. That covers everything on your site design and construction as well as the domain name registration and hosting for a two-year period.
After that initial fee it would be $49.95 per month for a minimum of 2 years. (That is a savings of 50% off individual website monthly fees.)
We also understand that after the same look and feel in your design year after year…you might like to see something different..and THAT is INCLUDED in your service as well…you are welcome to ask us to change your design if you are after a fresh new look after you two year period is up.
You want to attract new members to your group. To do this, your site needs to be appealing as well as operational. You want to offer them the best layout possible to display their artwork. No one wants to pay to be part of a group if the website is not going to represent their work in a professional manner.
We feel that our 'mini websites' for the artists, within your Group site is going to be a great feature, not only for your current members, but also to attract new members!
Each artist on the Group Site will have 2 options to display their work.
Option 1: Have a 'Mini Website' in which they can display as many of their paintings/artwork as they wish. Their sites will consist of the following
- Main page, which will include their photo, their biography, and thumbnails of ALL of their art they want to display.
- Each thumbnail will click to enlarge.
- Each enlargement will have an Order/Inquire button. That will take the Buyer/Viewer to an order form to fill out with a text box they can write an email to the artist in.
- This form will go directly to the artists email address.
- The artist will soon be able to maintain their own Mini Site. They will be able to add or delete images. They will be able to edit text. This is all-inclusive in their monthly fee. (You will also be able to completely maintain your Group site soon as well!)
- Cost for this option is $49.95 per month to be paid for by the artist for a minimum of 2 years.
If after that time, they no longer wish to pay, we revert their mini site back to a one page 'Profile Page'…or, they keep paying the $49.95 per month, and they keep their 'mini website' up and running!
Option 2: Have a One Page profile in which they will be able to display their photo, their biography and 4 sample thumbnails of their artwork. There will not be a monthly charge for this option; it will be included in the Initial set up fee.
Some artists will jump at the opportunity to have a mini website set up to have a complete internet presence, others will be content with a profile page, so both options will be available.
Actual Web Site Development:
A GUI (website design) will be created for your website to establish a theme for the overall atmosphere of your Group Website. Once the design is done, you will be given the address of where you can view the design. If your group members have any changes to make, you will submit them to us, and we will ensure they are implemented. Once the design meets your approval, you will sign off on the design and we can begin construction of your website.
